Limewire woes

I first wanted to mention that I had previously enjoyed using the limewire software (started with version 1.X). Unfortunately I changed computers and lost that old exe file. I downloaded version 2.4.4 and have had a nightmare since.

When running I continually receive these annoying popup windows. In addition, when running the program my computer hard drives sound like there going to spin right out of the box. The program doesn't like to run in parallel with other applications and routinely causes app. killing errors and forcing pain-staking restarts. I have a sneaking suspicion that the bundled software isn't completely legit or ethical...and how would I know there;s little to no information provided to make a rational, informed decision.

I don't know exactly why you guys when so $$$$$ but it sure sucks. Least you could do is leave the old version (without the ads and bundled software) out there for download. I don't think I have enough confidence to pay the ten bucks for the pro edition considering the change in philosophy around your shop. Why pay for improvements... What's to improve anyway? You guys had it nailed with the first versions!

I never used version 1.0 but I certainly noticed the steady improvements in the later versions - yes LW has ads - unless you use a clean or pro version - but hey - give'm a break - we all have to make a living - LW is without question one of the very best p2p packages you can use - as far I can see the only real competition is shareaza and (to a lesser extent I think) gnucleus

take a chill pill and enjoy it

Try running Adaware (available from download.com) to remove all spyware and any sneaking extras Limewire may have installed on your system. Just surfing the internet can be a cause of spyware and worms being installed on your computer, so do not just blame Limewire for your extra HD activity.

The last I looked you can opt out of the most annoying cad related components of Limewire... just the ads at the bottom at that point are present.
