I've seen a lot of trouble shooting in this forum, but I would like to see some actual opinions on LimeWare.

Is it worth it? Wish you installed a different gnutella client?

I miss Napster, so what should I do?

LimeWire is definitely worth trying
 

While none of the Gnutella clients are exactly perfect LimeWire is one of the best. It's definitely one of the easiest to use and most eye-pleasing. Worth a try at least. Personally I have about four I use regularly (LimeWire, Gnotella, Gnucleus, and Phex). They all have their strong and weak points.

Keep in mind many of the differences between Napster aren't LimeWire's fault. The Gnutella net isn't quite as easy to download from as Napster was and all clients will suffer from this, but a little effort will pay off.

I am REALLY happy with LimeWire for the Mac. Pretty stable and fast (although there are periods of freezes of up to 10 seconds for some reason...probably because someone is trying to download from my server). Otherwise, I think it has a very unique and easy-to-learn user interface. Very simple installation, beautiful UI, and stable code.

I never tried Napster, because of its central structure. LimeWire was the first step to gnutella, and it ws a great step :) .

LW can not get around the weaknesses of the p2p-concept, but it makes most out of the advantages.

Just the (central) installation on a Linux-box caused me some troubles (authorisation-wise), maybe the developers can have an eye on this...

One thing they've clearly made an effort to do is make work as the same codebase across versions, it's beautiful bringing up their linux client as an example of good installation.

however, one of the primary things I think they could implement that would help more is implementing the decidely windows-aimed feature of Napster where clicking the X in the upper right actually causes it to minimize to the system tray instead of quitting. I know it sounds sneaky, but users who don't realize that LimeWire is still backgrounded is a good way of extending the fabric.

We will be releasing the system tray feature in the next version of LimeWire in as non-sneaky a way as possible.
