It could be ...

Hi,

There are a heck of a lot of files out there on the gnutella network that are real hard to download. Most often it is because those servers are already overloaded with queued download requests.

You can make life a little easier by (I'm guessing you are using the PC version) clicking on the 'Tools' tab at the top of the Limewire window. Then select 'Options' then 'Searching' then 'Quality'. After that, I usually select the 'Show only 4 Star Results' option. You will get far less search results but the percentage of downloadable files will be greater.

I am not 100% sure what exactly this does. It will, however, filter out the busy servers where your chance of retrieving a file are low. The end results are a greater percentage of sucessful downloads.

Good Luck!

Ken

And it only takes a year and a half to get any response around here.

If it takes a year and a half to get a response something is wrong.

Maybe the thread was titled "this sucks" or similar and noone bothered to answer it :lmao:

Otherwise it could be lacking info people would need to give an answer. Or maybe the poster was rude.

Take your pick.

I seen how old the post was. I'm not that stupid! It was really a wake up call to some of my concerns. Needless to say, it looks like I've made a BAD investment. Whats the number to BBB?

Well, you know...nobody forced you to buy Pro. Basic is free. It's free so that people can learn how to use LW before they buy Pro.

I wrote a messge that only took me 20 minutes to write an when I went to save the message. the page wouldn't load. At any rate, I wish LW would at least consider implementing an option that would give us a little more control of these connection. I for one don't approve of connections that disable the browse. If LW is able to detect said connections, why couldn't LW implement a switch.
