Use Winamp3 and this http://www.kotiposti.net/poiko/wa3_cdripper_free.exe |
Ripping & Encoding 1. Install a Linux distribution (for Windows-Users I recommend Mandrake 9.2 with KDE) additionally to your Windows. (Yeah, of course you can hold 2 Operating Systems on your PC). 2. Use grip as frontend for ripping & encoding CD's 3. Per default grip uses "cdparanoia" or "cdd2wav" for ripping (i.e. creating WAV-Files). 4. For encoding use "oggenc" to create Ogg Voribs Files. Nearly every SW-Player (even under Windows) supports OGG Vorbis Format. Advantage: better compression rate, better sound Disadvantage: there are not yet many HW-Players, that support this format 5. Alternatively: use "lame" to create MP3-Files (Disadvantage: there are some legal restrictions, but....) |
There are other very simple ways to do the 'ripping' In my 'sig' below you will find links for CDex 1.51 and Musicmatch Jukebox (Probably the most easy to use if you are new to all of this...) Also, do a search on Gnutella for Winamp 2.81 Full Suite Pro+ or Winamp 2.95 Full Suite Pro+ The 2.95 version is more or less the same as the 2.81 except for the inclusion of Video and more Library stuff... The Winamp versions mentioned contain the plug-ins you need to rip just about anything. They are not available from any site... Only available as Downloads from people sharing them on Gnutella Network. |
