user name and passwrod request

I have just been requested to input a username and password from Limewire. It had an IP on the message. What does this mean and why is a username and password being requested?

Looking to purchase the software but need to know what this was.

LimeWire supports private networks, but there are no options for it yet. - They introduced it for their Peer Server which is more or less LimeWire's Enterprise Edition...
