badandmean | March 27th, 2003 09:23 PM | Spyware on Limewire? Is there any spyware bundled in the limewire for OS X software package? I am unable to gain access to a university server because it has detected "spyware" on my computer. Any help greatly appreciated. |
Juggalo15 | March 28th, 2003 02:45 PM | its not spyware bundled but there is ad-ware. This is easily gotten rid of with ad-ware or spybot. I don't remember the spybot website but i think the ad-ware website is www.lavasoft.nu |

trap_jaw | March 29th, 2003 04:10 AM | As far as I'm informed only the Windows version comes with bundled software. |
sebdude | March 30th, 2003 05:53 AM | I agree with trap_jaw. There is no bundled software in the mac version of LW |
Joakim Agren | March 30th, 2003 08:14 AM | Hello!
No spyware is included in the Mac versions. However in earlier versions like 2.4.4 there was adware included. These where in the form of static Quicktime files that was installed by the installer in the same folder as LW itself. Basically they where banners in the bottom of the LW window. Now however not even that is included the only thing at the bottom of the LW window is a link prompting you to support the LimeWire team by going PRO.
Probably you have some other software on your computer that can be seen as spyware by your schools server. can you not get out on the Internet either?. Maybe the fact that you are using a Mac could cause these problems. Talk to your serveradministrator who maybe could fix this problem.
Spybot is for Windows only. |
