RIAA and People scanning harddrives David91 said something on another thread that made me start wondering: how serious do you think people are about scanning your shared list? I share around 2400 files, and it's growing at an even rate. I'm worried personally that I'm at risk. Has anyone heard of anything being reported or having legal action taken against them because of Limewire? Does anyone have any method of being able to find out if someone IS looking at some of the larger shared lists? Just throwing this out there. I'm very curious to learn more. |
Hi Blackbird Although this is not the best place to be discussing potential legal liability, the liability that might come your way has nothing to do with Limewire per se. The potential liability is attracted by you offering a cache of copyright-protected music for sharing on Gnutella (or any of the other p2p systems for that matter). Self-evidently, the larger the cache you offer, the more likely it is to attract the attention of the monitoring "authorities". And, yes, there are ways of monitoring who attempts access to your computer but, again, this is not the forum on which to discuss it. |
