Nothing to share If I type in "Bush" or "Tool" or (god forbid) "Britney Spears" into BearShare on a PC I will get 1,500 listings in minutes. If I type the same thing into Limewire 3.3.5 on my Mac I will get maybe 2 songs, if I am lucky. What gives? How can I find more things? Why on earth would I want to upgrade to Pro if this is the performance I can expect? |
You got to wait until you are connected properly. LimeWire should return around 150 results before it stops the search. And you should make sure you are not connected to Morpheus ultrapeers, - they suck. (enable the connection view to see what ultrapeers you are connected to). |
Hmmm. I do wait until I am connected. I have looked at the connections/ultrapeers and rarely connect to anything that says Morpheus. I've even punched in the BearShare connections and addresses. If I ever got 150 results on any Limewire search I wouldn't know what to do. The point remains however. 150 on Limewire vs 1,500+ on BearShare. 10 times more. Why?? |
Limewire first off, is probably set to filter on your computer. For instance, I set Limewire to only report results coming from reliable (3 or 4 star) sources and with a speed of Cable or higher. Bearshare most likely just reports ever darn result it gets, regardless of whether or not you can download it. Limewire attempts to only report useable sources as results. |
Hi, trap_jaw... Look, I do know what he means... I've been playing with BS 4.2.8 for the last few days and the connects and search results are VERY quick... I assume and HOPE that it is simply a matter of configuring LW a 'bit better'... You know a LOT more about LW than I ever will... Not trying to be 'silly' here with this post, but there are currently some very different performance figures with BS... Blows Shareaza out of the water, as they say. Comments ? C U |

If that's not the case, something is wrong but I don't know exactly what it could be. Are you using the default settings? Quote:

TrapJaw maybe onto something. I don't think I ever get 4 ultrapeers to stick around that long (multiple minutes). I wonder why? |

Another possible explanation is that you internet connection is handling so much traffic your ultrapeer connections become instable. But you would have to handle a lot of traffic to see this happen. |
