Relax, everybody . . .

LimeWire is a cool program, even if the new release needs some fixes, and the people at LimeGroup are working very hard to bring this wonderful software to you for FREE! Be thankful even if you still have to use version 1.4b instead of 1.5.

The forums are here to be of help to you, and for you to help others. You should not abuse them by complaining incessantly about "those lame developers" or "this stupid software won't do x or y and does z when its not supposed to".

I'm sure if we all show a little patience, things will get worked out, and we'll have a slicker piece of software when the time is right.

And if anyone has noticed, Napster's services are down, and there are most likely thousands of people searching for alternatives. The people at LimeGroup probably want to give new users the best experience possible, and at this time, it means using 1.4b. If everyone could display just a little courtesy and patience, the transition to 1.5 will be smooth. If anyone did successfully download 1.5 before it was removed (as I have), please contribute any polite questions, bug fixes, or constructive suggestions to these forums. If you find something that you feel needs to go straight to the developers mailbox, e-mail your bug reports here: bugs@limewire.com. Please take your complaints elsewhere.

Help

I've tried going back to 1.4b but it still crashes as the hosts are being displayed. I've tried uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling -I still get an error saying Limewire has an error in (unknown)

Try restarting your computer.

Is it me or is it LimeWire?

hmm...

Sounds like it is not your fault. Most likely, it is limewire acting weird. But what are your system specifications? RAM, CPU? Usually, better hardware will let LW behave more acceptably. :-)

Relax, Everybody . . .

I downloaded LimeWire 1.5 (Linux tgz and Windows), and I'm currently running the tgz (I already have JRE 1.3.1 installed, so there was no need to install it twice!). In my computer (Win98SE) LimeWire runs smooth, no problems at all. If anyone is interested, to start the Linux version you can create a bat with this:

javaw -cp .;LimeWire.jar;collections.jar a.a.a.b.Main

As I said I'm running v1.5, without any problems. Only the system tray doesn't show any icon, and does nothing at all. BTW, I have installed Swing extensions in JRE 1.3.1, I don't know if they are required for LimeWire 1.5
