indie shorts: how do i get people to download my shared files?

howdy -- i'm an independant filmmaker and i'd like for people to be able to download some of my short films and get them out there. short of renaming them "paris hilton gets nazzty", is there a forum or IRC channel where i can promote them to other indy filmmakers and interested parties?

thanks,

kyle

You can submit your content to http://www.magnetmix.com , which is a website that promotes content for download. (I personally have an old old game I wrote, available as the last link at http://www.magnetmix.com/games.shtml .)

We are experimenting with easy ways to have LimeWire allow you to send an email to a friend, allowing them to retrieve something directly from you (which would be useful for things such as this). The download would occur within LimeWire, so eventually the file would spread through the network and won't always be served solely from your machine.

okay...

i submitted my video to magnetmix a couple weeks ago but it still hasn't shown up there. any ideas? i've had my file available for download and have gotten some hits but no uploads.

mostly people seem to be searching for "SEX" and "LIMP BIZKET", perhaps if i rename my video "LIMP BIZKET SEX VIDEO" it might get some uploads :-/ perhaps what we need are some keywords that content creators can put in the titles of their files to let searchers look for origional audio/video content.... thoughts?

thanks,

kyle

Do you want to spread your videos only via Gnutella? I know more sites which are offering links for the Donkey network.

sharing indie videos

ah, do tell. my primary interest is to get video shorts that i've done "out into the wild" so to speak. what's the best way to do that with p2p technology?

I sent a note to the people handling the MagnetMix stuff. We'll see what happens. Sorry for the lack of response...
