Yes of course if your modem can´t support the speed you need a better one.

Hmm... this isn´t really fast 17k are only 2Kb and this is slow... I mean even people with a 56k modem can download faster.

Do you have ISDN, ADSL cable or what? I mean 150k download isn´t very common. I also never heard about a 68k modem... I know modems for IDSN, IDSN is at 64k (one line).
