I think that guy is full of ****. Half of the things he said don't make any sense.

No problemo, I was parusing through DSL Reports and
came upon that thread about Limewire and I just
wanted to share it with you folks.

Here is the response I got from Syd078 in regards to
the DSL Reports Thread.


I think I was just sent the letter to be aware that the Movie Picture
Association was on thier *** about it. All I had was one unaired episode of
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and that is what the MPA was upset about. Because
someone downloaded it from me. However, a whole bunch of other people have
it on LimeWire. I will look around and see if I have the letter still. All
it said was something along the lines that the MPA had discovered that I had
a copyrighted episode of the Unaired Episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and
that my service was discontinued. But that letter came in the mail 2 days
after my service was cut off. It was only off for a few hours because I
called Oceanic Cable to find out why I had my service shut-off. I never
entended to share the file, I just downloaded it to put on a CDR to watchon
my computer. But at the same time I downloaded it, someone else downloaded
the file from me as I was finishing it. I have no idea why the MPA went
after me, because I dont have the time, the money or the energy, let alone
the need, to distribute any files.

Perhaps the ISP was contacted by a firm that tracks P2P sharing of copyrighted files.

We at LimeWire would never consider collecting any information about our users. It has nothing to do with our revenue model, and we feel strongly that the privacy of our users should be protected. That said, we do not even have the cabability built into our software to collect any information from our users, as this had nothing to do with our original goals.

LimeWire is an information sharing tool. We are working to make the Gnutella network a more generalized network that can be used for more robust searching and sharing of all types of information than any other network currently available. We have absolutely no interest in colluding with "undercover people" from the "MPA" to catch all you naughty little file sharers out there.

I suggest that anyone with more interest in the general subject of peer-to-peer networks check out some of the information on our web site at www.limewire.com.

This is what Sydney078 emailed me in response:

" LimeWire can kiss my ***. They are full of BS- call Oceanic and ask for a guy name Kit ad you can ask him yourself about LimeWire and how the MPA was
able to get my IP number. LimeWire can say all they want, but I know the truth. I am going to look around to see if I still have the letter. But, in the mean time, call Oceanic yourself. "

The person Syd078 referring is Kit Beuret Public Relations

I apologize for bringing this up, I am just trying to
search for the truth about this situation, especially since I am on the same ISP as "sydney078." Sydney078@aol.comI have emailed Mr. Kit Beuret of Oceanic Cable kbeuret@oceanic.com also in regards to this. This what I wrote to him

Firstly this person "sydney078 " Sydney078@aol.com
had his service cut off because he inadvertatedly shared a
unaired Buffy The Vampire Slayer episode on Limewire.
He called up Oceanic and got his service re-instated. The
reason he got from Oceanic was, that they were not going
to discontinue his service because they knew he was not using
the service to sell what I download.

Apparantly MPAA got a hold of sydney078 IP address and
forwarded it to Oceanic because he (inadvertedly) shared that
copyrighted episode mentioned above. He was also told by
Oceanic that there are undercover people working with Limewire
to help catch people downloading anything copyrighted, tradmarked
and such.

in regards to what "sydney078" said.

Just to alert you that poster Sydney078 is well known as a chronic stretcher of the truth around dslreports. Specifically two parties have complained to the Department of the Army IG asking that DOA investigate the person posting this nick for posting defaming statements copncerning the Army and her Commanding Officer in a dslreports private members forum (stars) concerning the alleged murder of her Co's wife by his brother and other relatives!!

All one has to do is muck through her latest posts in the dslreports public forum to evaluate the honesty and maturity of this person.

Fisk has the right posture. Respond to her and avoid getting tangled in her dementia.
