As a general rule, do NOT use the built-in players that are included with many of the clients...
They are really only intended for simple preview functions.

You really need to use a 'dedicated' player as your default player...
You can have a variety of players installed such as some for video and others for music... You will want to select one of them to be the default player for a given type of file (or CD/DVD).
You do not want any built-in player, included in any client, to be configured as your default player.

If you are using Windows -

Try Musicmatch Jukebox as a starter for your music playing...
You can download that by clicking on the link of the same name in my 'sig' below. Try the free version first, but I would say that it is one of the very few programs out there really worth the small money they ask for it !

If you also download and install the

Nimo Codecs

that are also with a link in my 'sig', you will not only receive practically every extra file needed to play anything, but you will also get a quite good video player. Nimo Codecs are free.

I actually like the LW player better than WinMedia Player. (I don't think music will ever sound very good for me because I'm useing onboard sound from my Shuttle AB60N. And crappy speakers.) And just a word of reminder here; don't download executable applications from anywhere other than that software publisher's offical site. And always scan them with an anti virus just to be sure... (A reminder untill (*cough*) my thread (*cough*) (Ursula)(*cough*) shows up in the sticky section)

Ursula: Have you recieved that post I sent you? It was sent in two parts. I don't mean to rush you, you're just usually very quick to reply to your PM's (from me anyway). Talk to you later...
