Peer-to-peer 'dying' ? What do you think of this ? http://www.fourmilab.ch/speakfree/unix - and, as a LW installation behid a NAT router, can I not actually serve files ? I can't be sure because the GUI tells me I'm 'behind a super-peer' (?) and Monitor shows no upload activity. I'm newly behind a router/hub, but in the past was using PPPoE DSL behind NAT and was providing uploads. |
If you can "accept incoming" you can upload. in Tools->Options->Bug Reports->View Example, scroll for the line "Received incoming this session: true" (or false). Many share from behind a NAT'ed network--just takes some time to make sure port 6346 is forwarded properly. |
I have "received incoming tis session: false" and "Acting as shielded leaf: true". "Netstat -n" shows I am connected to a nmumber of otherpeople's 6346, but no-one is connected to mine. |
ok--something is blocking incoming connections. Perhaps the router isn't forwarding port 6346 back to your machine's internal IP or maybe the internal IP changed? Any new firewall or other protection software on your machine that's blocking incoming on your port? The shielded leaf message is normal--it just means that the ultrapeers are protecting your bandwidth and not flooding you with irrelevant search queries. |
I have ZoneAlarm free edition... "Received incoming this session" is false. The NAT router is a fairly simple one, and I have complete control of it (err... limited only by my own knowledge). Browsing through the settings, it looks worth playing with the "virtual server" settings (Global port / local IP / local port / service type). First I'll need to track down my MAC address and allocate a fixed IP address. |
What kind of router? The Linksys, for example, just needs the "Port Forwarding" pane activated. Check out the screenshots by et voilą at http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=23369 Might not have to bother with the MAC addresses cheers |
