Just a question from a non-Windoze user: doesn't Nero make Video CD's? Like, you drag an .avi file in it and choose to make a Video CD and it burns just that: a disc that wil be read by most DVD players (although not necessarily a DVD-R). I'm pretty sure I saw that function on Nero last time I was in front of a PC.
As for the dld speeds, there are many possible answers: either you haven't configured your LW for optimal performance (hope that it's this one), or your ISP is reducing or otherwise controlling P2P traffic. There may be other answers but my mind cannot function enough right now to do something so demanding as remembering stuff...
