Badly named files?

Is there anyway to encourage people to stop sharing files that are using the wrong name? This is a big problem for me (and I bet many others). We download a relatively large file, only to discover the file is not what it says. Why would someone bother to do this in the first place is beyond me but surely there can be some sort of way to let people know that they are hosting a file with an inaccurate name?

Many reasons why some (wretched, if may say so) people would do that: if you wanna share a file you have but nobody else does, you rename into a more popular file (or a file that's super rare but super wanted) and you're guaranteed that people will upload it from you.
There are also associations against file sharing (I'm not too sure) that serve bogus files to discourage people from dlding/uploading.
There is also the possibility that the person who gave the file a bogus name might have mistook it for something else (hmm, kind of a stupid person if you ask me) or just didn't know what the file was and renamed it with whatever they could come up with, being too lazy to launch a search in Google for the right name of the file.
And please, don't overlook the possibility that some people might be doing this for fun. Now, you may ask what kinda fun would you have by serving bogus files to the network. Well, precisely the same kinda fun stupid people that make viruses and stuff to make other people frustrated have.

Great example here...

Looking for QuarkXpress?

Great, lot's of sites seem to have 6.5.

But Quark only goes to 6.1!

You can bet there's a problem here...

Bitzi

Signup for Bitzi via bitzi.com, then just search for that file again, click Bitzi Web Lookup or simialer, write that its name isn't right...thats all you can do...sorry.

In limewire you can mouth off to them if they have enabled chat and you are not firewalled!...fun!
