et voilà June 19th, 2004 07:39 AM

Aaron: it will be in 4.1 betas and 4.2 final. 0.0.x releases are just bugfixes. But nontheless, it will be cool.

Bonne journée

4.1 beta timelines

Ah, I see -- thanks for the clarification. I'll use the 4.1 beta to test this feature, and hopefully be able to provide some useful feedback to the developers. Thanks again, Aaron

I am talking

I am talking about not screwing up Limewire beyond repair...not baby proofing it because some users don't know the difference between Start and Initiate...I am talking about not watering down Limewire so bad it becomes soap...and as I posted, I like change: but when you take away options I get antsy...and so on and so on.

I believe you're the first person to mention removing options, Fungi. Now that you mention it, though, it sounds like a good idea. ;)

Fungi14 June 20th, 2004 01:51 PM

What does?

What sounds like a good idea: 1pulling a Bearshare or 2being cautious and not pulling a Bearshare. 1removeing and adding things soley based on network performance and ignoring user input and ignoring user opinion or 2listening to what the user has to say and give us an option to change Limewire if we know what we are doing *say 3 options, Basic/Above Average/Pro user (not pro as in pay pro as in really know what you are doing pro)*

1 or 2, I am confused!

sberlin June 20th, 2004 02:32 PM

Obviously 1 is the best! 2 is a number below 1, so it's definitely not a better choice.

You can always change LimeWire, if you know what you're doing. It's open source! Downloading the source code, editing it and compiling it is really not that hard...

Fungi14 June 21st, 2004 03:48 PM

I really hope you were joking!

PLEASE tell me you were joking when you chose 1, please please please tell me you were joking when you said you were going to ignore the user and just make a client based on network performance. Lets give an example:

"I say bob, lots of people are getting slow download speeds!"
"The upload end must be the problem, lets change it"
"I say bob, how about removing the upload slot number and just hard codeing like 2 or 3?"
"Yea, people will like that" (people) "NO WE WONT!"
"well, you're going to learn to like it because we don't care what you say!" (people) "well kiss us good bye while I leave for better clients!"

Do you really think this is GOOD? You want to force options on people and you think they will enjoy it? They really won't...the whole reason I left bearshare was because that is EXACTLY what they did, and limewire didn't do that...do you want me to be posting in, say a shareaza forum, how I left limewire because they forced options on me?

You shouldn't have to recode a client just to get your options back!

I think you should put a "view" option in, one for Average User, one for Advanced User, one for Pro User....can you do that instead?

Again, please please please tell me you were joking when you said 1.

Fungi,

We're interested in pleasing our users, not alienating them. Except for this, every post I've made in this thread has been utterly sarcastic.

Take a few deep breaths (exhale, too) and relax. I've been on vacation & am continuing it this week (*** shows, then Vegas baby!) and I recommend you take one too. If you're not busy, maybe you'd like to come see *** in Camden with me mid-August. ;)

(Oh, and if anyone out there has tickets to their festival in Vermont, I need some ;) )

Phew!

Iiiiiiin---Ouuuut....thankyou!

I'm local to vegas so it will be cool knowing a big contributer to my favorite gnutella client will be in my area.

Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou for not pulling a Bearshare
