You can retrieve them with a file recovery program and it's fairly simple too. I've accidently deleted over 10 gig of music and video before and retrieved it using this program:
PC Inspector File Recovery (Freeware) Give it a try, I think you'll be pleased with the results. ***I think the program will tell you that some of the data may become corrupt during retrieval. (At least it did when I had it happen 2 years ago) But, I did retrieve about 95% of my stuff without any problem.
