Songs sound broken up/skipping--Please Help

Help! I'm brand new to Limewire. Just got a cd burner just for this. My brother has been telling me how great Limewire is--but--every song I download sounds all broken up, like they're skipping, when I play them. What's wrong??? I'm disappointed and desperate.

(1) Which platform are you using & (2) what player are you using to play them. It sounds more like a player issue. Your player 'might' not be fully compatible with that format depending on how it was encoded. Are you talking about mp3 or m4a/m4p files.

There's a large multitude of mp3 players out there & many are free (not so many m4a players however). Try another one & see if the same thing happens.

I forgot to ask, is the skipping happening within your mp3 player or after you burn to CD. And is this an mp3 disk or an Audio CD. There may have been issues with the conversion process for the latter (or your disks have a problem.)

I have a feeling that robin_a is trying to play the songs with LW's own mp3 player. If so then please don't. Just find the files in your PC (in the Shared folder somewhere in your hard drive) and play them from there in your usual player.
Man, they must either remove the playlist function from LW (so that people don't use it as their regular player and think that files are corrupted and stuff) or upgrade it.

songs skipping

please keep in mind I am completely ignorant about Limewire. I know I downloaded Limewire (not pro). Then I started downloading songs. They all say mp3 under type. I have a cable connection (if that means anything). I also have quicktime player installed on my pc, but I just try to play them from Limewire. Please tell me what to look for and where to look and I'll be more than happy to let you know. I'm completely lost. Thanks. robin

Songs skipping--I'm sooooo stupid and such a newbie!

I believe murasame just answered my question. Thanks. Now, how do I play songs? I have Windows Media Player and Quicktime Player. I also have a program that came with my CD burner--AvRack.
:) Thank you all for helping me. robin

AvRack? Wazzat? If it came with your burner then isn't it burning software?
Anyway, for playing the songs (you have PC right?) when LW is open, click Tools->Options->saving and remember the path that is indicated there: it tells you where the completed dlds go. Now open a new window in your browser and go to that folder (it's called Shared). Do what you want with the files in there.

saving songs / non-skipping player

AvRack is the program that came with the burner (the guy who built my new pc installed it) but I just got it and I've never tried to fool with it at all. Just purchased blank cd's yesterday for the first time. Anyway, thanks for your instructions. I think I can figure out how to save the songs anyway.
Thanks everyone and if anyone else has additional info, please...:D all help is much appreciated!

See: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=25972
However, if it's an mp3 disk you want to burn then refer to your burner software's instructions (select mp3 disk.)
Get back to us in this thread if you have any other problems with this issue.

still not working

I'm saving songs to "my music" folder and playing thru my cd burner program and thru windows media player. Still skipping terribly. Could my ZoneAlarm Firewall program have anything to do with this? Is there compatibility problems with Windows ME? thanks.

Lord of the Rings July 15th, 2004 08:31 AM

I'm not a pc windows person, but I've read other posts about ZoneAlarm affecting dwnlds. Sure, try turning it off & see if it makes a diff. There's more knowledgable pc people on this forum who might be able to answer this question or suggest other reasons for your problem. What is your objective? To burn an audio CD or an mp3 CD? If you have a CD-RW burner you could try burning it onto a CD-RW & trying it on a DVD player or other device that can play mp3's/audio-CD burnt on CD-RW media. It doesnt seem too good though if you can't play it on your computer properly. Or you can take my earlier suggestion & try another player. Google mp3 player or try http://www.winamp.com/player/free.php which is quite popular b/c it also plays video media as well. Some players are more reliable than others.
