Where does LimeWire get its host list? I've been using LimeWire for years and like it, but these days I'm only seeing like 25,000 files available, which isn't much. When I start up, LimeWire tries to connect to various hosts, eventually settling on four. My first question is, where does it get this host list? Can this be changed? (I'm on a Mac G3 running OS 9.2.) Second, this host list obviously isn't very good, since I'm seeing few files available. Is there a better host list posted anywhere on the net? Thanks very much. |
These statistics are certainly very misleading, if you do a couple of searches you will soon realize that there have to be a lot more files than just 25,000. |
O . . . kay. Now, why is this information so hard to come by? I'm beginning to think that LimeWire controls this information so that the user has to download the latest upgrade to change his host list . . . meaning that you also have to get their new, expanded Spyware if you want the program to run. Could this theory be possible? (trap_jaw4, I don't pay much attention to the statistics, but I continually see the same files over and over -- making me think that the network I'm connected to is actually *quite* small.) |
