Play my movie

I have a Gateway with Windows XP, and CD/RW. I would like to know if I can play my movie files on my DVD player that supports mp3, and audio files if I try to burn them on CD-R or do it has to be a dvd-r, or do I have to have a dvd burner. I've tried to do it with the software that was purchase with LIMEWIRE and tried multisession, append, & no session using DeepBurner, but it didn't work.

Is it movie files or mp3 files you want to play on your dvd player. It depends on the player itself, but most if not all dvd players can play vcd's & many of the newer ones can play mp3. They can also play full audio cd's. So it's up to your player really. So no, you shouldn't require a dvd burner to create vcd's (yo might need a more advanced one than DeepBurner but I don't know its abilities & formats it can burn) or to create music disks to play on your dvd player. The newer dvd players on the market can even play divx & more (I can't remember all the newer formats they can apparently play.) I hope this answers your question.
