In the Library portion of LIMEWIRE, in the incomplete portion, why are some of the songs listed in red, and the others listed in black? I accidently deleted from the download portion, lost several to a 'kill download' slip of the finger, and was hoping to find them to restore them from the incomplete part of my library. I was not sure which songs I 'killed'. Is there any hope?
Thanx

Items in red have lost their link to the files in the dwnld window. (one reason is if you kill the dwnld from the dwnld window, another is if the dwnld decides to dwnld from another source & loses its link & recognition of the original.) There's more than one way to enable the incomplete items in red recontinue. 1st is to do a search for that item & reselect it to dwnld. If it doesn't continue dwnlding from where it left off (eg-60% dwnlded), then kill that dwnld & select another from another source until it does continue. The other last resort, is to force resume, the problem with that is it needs to have the resources available for it to continue.
It's a bit of an issue with LW that when you do a search for an item, not all search results are grouped together despite having the same name & size. This is an issue that future versions of LW will refine upon as Java & the Gnutella network develops & improves. However in the meantime, you can be dwnlding an item & end up having 2 or more items of the same name in red in the incomplete folder. My suggestion is to just dwnld from whichever one you can, & then delete the others of the same name in the incomplete folder 'after' you've successfully finished dwnlding 'one' of these. If you'd like a more detailed description of the problem see this thread (not easy reading): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=26449 |

Does this mean that the items that I 'killed' will be in the list, and that I did not lose them completely? I hope that is the case, cuz I do not know for sure what I lost.
Thanx |

That's right, all items you killed will be in the list (so long as you didn't also delete them from the incomplete library.)
Be wary of deleting items from the incomplete list in the lib. window. Once they're deleted there, they're almost impossible to recover b/c they will be deleted from the computer. |
