shared folder question

If I have files that have been downloaded and they did not automatically move to my shared folder, how do I move them manually?
Basically, I was in the process of moving my shared folder to the desktop, and this seemed to have caused the few music d/l's that did finish in this time, to not be moved, since it could not read the path. So now, along with the first question, I'd like to have this folder on my desktop for easier access, without having to open up my whole desktop in p2p. Any answers? Thanks...

oh and yeah, i'm a newb at all this ;)

(1) Your shared folders are not necessarily your LW dwnld folder unless you set your LW Dwnld folder to be also shared. Remember, LW can only dwnld to one folder. To answer your question directly: Go to LW's menu Tools-Options & Saving & press the Browse button. Direct it to your desktop & press the new folder. Name the folder. Then press open/add & then BOTH the Apply & OK buttons.

(2) To allow this folder to also be a shared folder so it appears in your LW Library window as a shared folder & other people can also dwnld from it, go back to LW's menu Tools-Options & Sharing. Press the Add button & direct it to your new dwnld folder. Press open/add & then BOTH Apply & OK buttons. Now go to your LW Library window & press the Refresh button. Now your new dwnld will appear in your library along with all your other shared folders.

The alternative to all of this is to add your present dwnld folder as a shared folder. Go to LW's menu Tools-Options & Saving to find the name, locations & path of your present LW dwnld folder. Write these details down somewhere. Now go to LW's menu Tools-Options & Sharing & Add this folder as in step (2) above. The last step here is to make a short-cut to your LW dwnld folder & move it to your desktop.

If you're using a mac & not windows, please write back & I'll explain how to do it for mac. It's actually a very similar process.

Happy to help, write back if you have any problems. I'd love to be in Phuket right now. It's been a few years since I was in Thailand.

I don't blame ya, it's gorgeous here! I've been here 3 weeks now and I'm hoping to stay for at least 6 months... I'll probably never go back to the states to live if things work out. I guess I have to restart my pc to have the new DL folder to take effect, cause they're still downloading to my shared one, even after changing it and hitting "apply" and "OK."

This is the tricky area about changing dwnld folders! Not one I'm totally confident about. I almost suggested (& in retrospect should've), to wait until you've completed all present dwnlds to be on the safe side. Your suggestion may just be the answer. But then, just temporarily shutting down LW might also do the trick. After all, files are not moved to the dwnld folder until they've completed dwnlding. Another issue is the whereabouts of the incomplete folder. Generally the 2 sit side by side (on a mac but I'm not sure about windows.) If you change the location of the dwnld folder, it 'might' also change the location of the incomplete folder. And if you have present incompletes, then things start to get a bit confusing for me & LW. Sorry I can't add too much more about that. But we'll see what happens. If you've moved the dwnld folder to a different partition/HDD, then the incomplete folder will most likely follow. Which is why the last suggestion I made in the 1st post would have been safer.

After spending a couple mths in VietNam I didn't want to come back either.
