LimeWire PRO

I am interested in purchasing Limewire PRO. But I am wondering, even though you pay for limewire pro, is it still illegal to download music via limewire?

Lord of the Rings September 27th, 2004 10:19 AM

It's only illegal to dwnld music via LW if it's copyright material. There's lots of music around that's not copyright. But if you'e worried, you should check 1st.
By the way, talking about following rules, you should only post one thread about a problem (not identical ones in different sections of the forum!) The other thread will be deleted.

all produced music is copy righted

lol ok

I've produced music but not all of it is copyright. Same goes for many others who have been in bands. If you are worried about copyright material then don't dwnld material you know is copyrighted.

These kinds of questions about wether LW is legit or not have been asked so many times it would be stoopid to give you links. Just run a search yourself (using the little search button at the top right of the page, in case you missed it) for the word "legal" and tell it to look only in the threads in the LW forums.
There's a whole bunch of them posts. Read some. It is very educational.

Edit: dammit, I posted this in the deleted thread. Lol.

One thing, how does the gov. know I'm downloading illegally?

As murasami suggested, search 'legal'/'illegal'/ free, piracy, RIAA, etc.

Not true. The copyright ends after I believe 80 years, so you can download music from Mozart without a risk.

Well, if you are dlding copyrighted material, then, if you're really unlucky, the gov might decide to bust you. They then have to look at your IP adress. Having that. They have to ask your ISP to divulge info about that IP adress (such as phone numbers, emails, whoteva). Depends after that on how they ask your ISP and if your ISP will agree.
And that is one way.
