since they are linking directly to limewire.com servers to download the installation software for limewire (a few people have noticed this.) all limewire has to do is this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=42544

Thumbs up Yes I DID!

In my previous post here, I said I would believe it when I saw the money in my bank account. Yes, they did actually refund money after all the threatening e-mails, sending them their own "guarantee of money back if not satisfied" statement and all that.

Yes, Kelnar, you are absolutely right about getting these guys back, and yes UC you are right with believing the RIAA has something to do with it. I think so too.

I've had other problems since then with a false-positive virus diagnosed by Avast and now having scripts errors so I can't print anything. If anyone will read my post in Tips and Tricks here, I would appreciate any help.

I copied the error message wrong - the last part of it I think should be URS res://C\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCL/DLL/preview.dlg.

Not sure if that't right either.

Back to the topic, at least I did get my money back. I didn't know anything about P2P until MyMusic came along. It was only through a small problem I was having with Limewire that I came to this forum and found out I got burned. So once again, thank you all and PLEASE, any newbies like me (probably won't be much longer at this rate though LOL) do not sign up for anything like AllCoolMusic, Mymusic, and oh there's another one that tried to get to me yesterday - PeerFlix. Be careful out there.

Default Scam Sites are Predators

Dear U2btrfly

Glad you got your money back and beaten the scammers but, as you admit, you would not have known you were scammed unless you had a problem and came to this forum looking for help. Now imagine all those newbies out there that do not have problems and are living quite happily with their paid for "free" LW basic.

Scam sites exist to prey on gullible and unthinking internet shoppers, but theses sites would not exist if people thought about what they were doing before parting with their payment details. So, in a way, I blame the prey (in the main gullible newbies) for the existence of so many predators (well over a hundred scam sites).

Predators exists because their prey are plentiful, no prey and predators becomes extinct. Therefore, unless and until newbies start to use their common sense and stop being prey there will always be predatory sites willing and able to rip them off.

I telephoned my Credit Card Company to report the charge and they have said that the charge will not be paid until further investigations are made. I have been charged 62.68 USD does that mean the fraudsters can keep on placing this charge on my card ad infinitum?

The ofending site is:

Answer: Yes

That's why you have to cancel your credit card and get a new one.

Angry Scam!!!!

It seems I was also scammed.
http://www.my-free-music.com/home.htm?affID=2588
The is the web address that charged me $24.95 for a 2 year membership that is apparently free then offered the $18.88 upgrade option. I used the 1st site My Music Inc.
Do I have any recourse?
