Membership clarification

at LimeWire.com there are two options.
You can sign up for LimeWire Pro for $18.88 or you can order the second edition of Limewire Pro.

What is the difference?
Thank you

Lord of the Rings February 20th, 2005 10:22 AM

Umm...Sharkie what 2nd edition are you refering to? I hope you got LW pro thru the official LW site: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml

You can get a CD edition. But as far as I know that's all.

lizziebrad I'm sorry LW customer support didn't get to your problem before the weekend but they will I assure you. And yes if you don't eventually get the registration to come thru then you should get your money back. You should at least get an extension on your registration for the period you haven't been able to downld the softw. Sorry to hear there's been this type of issue. About a month back they had a problem for a day or two with their online registration which may have cropped up again.

Keep an eye out, just make sure their mail doesn't end up in your junkmail. ;)

AFTER I did this, LW is what I downloaded and have been using, tho' i have the same issues: music--no problemo! movies? can't get 1 single true movie via search in LW. I remember I paid extra for the ability to get movies--not just music.

The original search that led me here, was something about being sure a movie file was a minimum size to ensure its authenticity. now i can't find any tips on that issue but the few items "so-called" movies i've downloaded are only advertisements or i get the same msg about codecs.

help?

Lord of the Rings February 23rd, 2005 04:02 PM

Yes sflanagan it looks like you were scammed too. As you can see from the previous page ww.mymusicinc.com is on the list of scam sites. To think you could have got LW for free or the Pro version for $18.88, the best advice is usually to try to cancel the transaction asap. But since yours was over a month ago I think you just have to put it down to experience. But make sure they do not have the ability to re-charge you. Some of these scam sites will automatically re-charge after a period.

Hi the exact same has happened to me

I signed up for the $19.99 standard package at http://www.filesharingcenter.com/login.php and that installed the Limewire on my home computer. I re-installed it to another computer and that installed Etomi:eek: which looks the exact same as Limewire. Shame we only find sites like these after this sort of thing has happened. I would never have expected them to have given this software out on a free

SCAM Site Reselling P2P Clients

A website by the name of www.americamp3network.com
is a scam site they say that they offer a legal way to download mp3s and movies the pay back the copyright holders. They offer a lifetime membership a one time fee of 34.95. When you pay this fee you are then allowed to login to they're members only area. Once you login you are given nothing more then links to download freely available p2p clients. Limewire, WinMX, Freewire, Morpheus, edonkey, grokster, and Imesh.

Interestingly once you login you are presented with a warning that says if you try to reverse the charges on your credit card they will charge you an additional 80.00 dollars. They also state that they are not responsible for what you download.

On they're main page of the site it shows small screen shots of limewire, Unfortunatly I figured that out once I already paid.

Please pass this info onto others. I'm Unsure if there is any recourse I can take to get these thieves site taken down. There website looks like it is based in the U.S.A. but the actual credit card charge company is located in the United Kingdom the charge company is shopper@ uk.worldpay.com

If anyone knows a way to find out where this site is located or if they can be sued or prosecuted by me or the makers of the software they are profiting from please let me know. Hopefully the authorities can go after them.

Thanks

Scam !

Hi... I too had found that site for LimeWire that had the 3 price membership offerings. Fortunetly, it couldn't process my chrg card. I went back several days later to try again, and was surprised to find the one time price of $18.88, thinking maybe LimeWire changed it's policies. Now I'm GLAD it didn't process my original order!!!
Sorry, wish I had saved the address of the original one, but I'm sure I just typed it in as 'LimeWire.com' . I don't normally use an engine search for such things...... though, maybe.

MyMusicInc.com

For those of you who have come across MyMusicInc.com scammers then please see AnnieJo's last post here re: phone number for getting your money back! : http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=34352 Don't let the scammers get ANY money! They just sit there waiting to be busted! It will happen one day! And there will be a massive applaud when that happens! ;)

scam site??

Ive just started reading these boards i got limewire basic through a site called american mp3 network payment was to le group oray it payed £25 for lifetime mebership, they say the money is for access to their server which doesnt seem to show up, after i payed i got the option to download limewire morpheus winmx and so on, although a guy on ebay was selling the limewire link for £3.99 just for a URL i thought i'd check for myself and ended up on the americanmp3network site, it seemd genuine as they took almost every type of payment even my rubbish solo card!!

have i been scammed??

Lord of the Rings February 28th, 2005 04:48 AM

It looks that way yes. There's no lifetime membership to Limewire (LW.) The Basic version if free. So they were having you pay just to show you to the downld site which does not belong to them. Nor does LW itself have any relationship with those people. It's a new enterprise for people to put together attractive sites saying downld all you want & just pay a membership. Then show you to the free downld site. (By the way there's also a clone or few of LW that aren't as good.)

If I were you I would contact the credit company ASAP & cancel the transaction & explain these people were scammers.

This is the official LW download site: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml (& downld.com or another site actually host the files.)
