Pro

Is Limewire Pro much better than standard Limewire?

not an easy question . . .

The differences are not that easily noticed. LW has done a good job of adding some perks (finds a few more sources, slightly better connections and . . . ?) that help make downloads faster, without crippling the free Basic version. The exact technical differences are probably tweaked with each version.

IMO the real difference is that Pro helps keep the project evolving and so they don't have to develop a big sales staff. I guess the bottom line is get Pro because you don't want to leech off the work of the developers.

btw--if the Free doesn't work on a set-up, the Pro won't either. There's no trickery in the Basic development to sucker people into Pro.

Matter of opinion. I'd say no. But with Pro, your connection never seems to drop out of the blue so you're not restricted from searching etc. You're supposed to be able to connect to more peers so thus better search results & dwnlding. But in reality some of these things might seem barely noticeable. Perhaps not unless you switch back to the free version. There's no annoying upgrade to pro window when you 1st open LW. Some people have suggested that buying pro is more like a donation towards the development of LW. The point is, don't go rushing into pro & expect magical improvements. Because if you look for them, you might be a little disappointed. They're not drastically different. If you have connection problems don't buy pro thinking it's going to fix all your problems b/c it won't. Connections problems generally stem from the person's own particular setup & if necessary configuring firewalls properly. I hope these comments are of some help. ;)
