Internet Control

Dear LW users

It seems that it is far easier to protect your PC from malware (viruses, Trojans, etc) than it is from "nasty" (meaning "pedo") porn peddlers.

These scumbags are doing everything they can to undermine everything that makes using the internet worthwhile, be it educational, fun, informative, etc. Eventually they are going to force a governmental agency (US, UK or EC) to take over control of the internet where all our activities, emails and surfing habits, will be monitored or stored for future examination.

I, for one, do not want the internet “looked after” by a government agency because that would surely lead to politically motivated management. Also, it would be used as a tool of intrusion and control, e.g. come election time if a government has access to your emails it could, theoretically, influence the way you vote.

The best way to deal with scumbag peddling pedos is to delete their filth off your system and block their IP address from your LW application. And, if you use a firewall, put their IP address in your “block list” of banned sites.

Only a quick comment here on the above post...

It MUST be emphasized as strongly as possible that the content of files available for DownLoading within the Gnutella Network is NOT the fault or responsibility of LimeWire or any other Gnutella Network based p2p client.

Further, the 'better quality' p2p clients incorporate search filters and Parental Supervision filters...

The responsibility for content of files is entirely in the hands of the users.

Last... There is also Bitzi...

Click on the Bitzi - Check Files Before Downloading link in my sig below if you are interested in an excellent way of 'vetting' files first !
