viewing my limewire files from another computer
 
I was wanting to view and listen to the files that I have downloaded at my work computer. Anyone know How I can acheive this???

Do you want to view them on your home computer? Using the net to transfer the files a second time can be a very complex task. Instead of trying to remotely connect with the work computer over the internet, just burn them to CD or put them on a zip disk.
If you don't have a CD burner or a zip drive, you could make a serial or parallel port connection by physically connecting your home computer to the work computer. This would take a while to transfer, and you would have to bring your computer to work.

Thank you for your help! So I can save my music files to a zip disk to transfer them?? I was told about this, I just figured the files would be too large.

Yes, a zip should work just fine. :-) There are two disk capacities I know of: 100 MB and 250 MB. Even the 100 MB are perfectly acceptable. Since your average higher fidelity MP3 is about 5 MBs, you could fit nearly 20 songs on one disk at a time.

A note about zip compression:
MP3s are already compressed using the Mpeg Layer 3 format. You will not gain more than 1 or 2 % of space by compressing the songs into a zip archive. Movie downloads are also compressed (one would hope!), so they won't need zipping either. Most other downloads, such as Jpeg images and executable program installations, can benefit to some degree from file compression, though they are already set to go in a slightly lower compression ratio.

I have done this I just make sure that I have one or 2 of the same
servers connected, then I search for the files that I am looking for, but first I put a file in my share directory called AndyisReallyAComputerGeek and search for it.. sometimes it takes a while to find it then I just do a browse host for the files that I reallywant. or if I know the address for the computer that I want to connect to I just do a manual connection to it. Ok so now Ill have 20k people tring to download the file AndyisReallyAComputerGeek grin ..

I have done ZIP transfering, but it doesn't work
 
I have the same problem. I want to transfer all the songs I have downloaded on one computer to another computer. I have copied files onto a zip disk and it works just fine, except half of my files, when i look at their icons in the limewire/shared folder, states, the name of the artist/song, and is then followed buy a #number. These files will don't transfer onto my zip disk. What is this problem, how do I fix it?

Lisa: Filenames followed by a # are incomplete downloads. Just delete them. As for why they won't transfer to your zip disk, I have no idea...that's really weird.

Thank you so much for answering me back before. I now understand what the #s mean after the song title, and I understand that completely. And I also know that YOU don't know why those songs won't transfer onto a ZIP, but do you know HOW I could find out. And, is there any way to avoid from downloading a song that won't be completed, because a majority of my songs are like that, and I don't mind, really, it's not that imcomplete, but I don't want to delete ALL those songs, if you know what I mean. Once again, thank you for responding.

oh yah - if I find out the answer, I will be glad to tell you and everyone else, because I"m sure that someone else has the same problem.
