Antivirus

I'm using Windows XP Home, Limewire v. 4.2.3 and have Avast v. 4 running as an antivirus aid. The Avast icon sitting in the system tray displays the following when activated by cursor contact:- 6 providors, 5 running. One of these providors is listed as 'P2P Shield'. Can someone please explain what these providors are and whether the P2P Shield can have an adverse affect on the operation of Limewire?

In the Avast P2P shield you can set weither Avast scans your incoming files .
It does not have anything to do with your connection and thus should not affect your performance.

dogbreath November 29th, 2004 03:05 AM

But what are the proidors?

Thanks for the reply, RaaF, much appreciated. Can I assume that the providors are part of the AVAST programme- is that what you are saying?

Hello dogbreath,

Avast is higly configurable.
There are indeed 6 providers or shields in the avast prog.
-instant messaging
-internet mail
-network
-outlook mail
-P2P
-standard
By splitting up your antivirus in 6 parts as Avast did, you can configure and set the protection levels for each part separate from the rest.

Now ain't that good for a freebee or what ? ;)

Cheers, RaaF, it is a good bit of kit for a freebie!:)
