Anyone know what my speed is?
 

Hi,

this might sound like a really dumb question, but...
my company pays for the internet connection, and i have no idea what speed it should be. I can't ask them, because there is a language barrier.

It uses a LAN connection, so the speed always says 100mbs, but i know its nowhere near this speed.

How can i find out the top speed i can reach?

my result was 9.2mbps, however, i measured this from japan, i am in korea, will this make any difference?

It might make a difference. There might be a local test. I know of others from UK, USA & Australia tht you can check your speed. But then again, I checked my speed at all of those locations & found the difference in speed was minimal. So it's probably reasonably accurate. You can always re-check it. And as with the above link you can test it with other country's test sites.

The one from south korea requires an ID number, and not being korean, i don't have, but japan is pretty close and all.

So what is your connection speed supposed to be? Remember that there's always going to be loss of speed with what's known as overhead.

Oh I misunderstood your question. I don't know what qualifies a T1 connection. But I should think that if it's not, it shouldn't be too far off it. Try to google it & post back. I & others I'm sure would like to know also.

t1= > 1.5 MB/s
t3= > 45 MB/s

Careful how you write that. I just checked & the minimum speed for T1 is 1.5 Mbits/s not Mbytes!

Aint MB's bigger than Mb's? i know sod all about this stuff, think i'm only 9 Mbps then...

whatever though, i was trying to work this out from a japanese site, and not speaking a word of japanese, i'm guessing all the way!
