How would I search for Hawaiian music? It's not a choice in the Genre menu (but should be!), and entering "Hawaiian" into the Title box, for instance, pulls up all kinds of stuff. I can enter Edit as the artist and get his music but miss a lot of artists I don't know. And if I misspell a name (like Kamakawiwaole) I don't get his music.
Is Hawaiian under Folk? (Some.) Native American? (Nope.) Is Slack Key guitar under Jazz? I found some Hawaiian under Punk and New Age, even! It shouldn't be this hard... Thanks, Jerry Last edited by Remoc; February 4th, 2008 at 08:06 PM. |

Thing is that to look for Hawaiian music, people would have to take the time to put in their files information that this or that music file is Hawaiian music.
In other words, even if there was a "nationality" selection field, it would only recognise a minimal fraction of files that actually have info about that. The other alternative would be some kind of database that LW would access upon searching and that would tell it that this or that file is Hawaiian music. ... Not so easy. At the moment, I can only recomend you do the same thing I do: go up to the internet, go to Google and search for Hawaiian music or Hawaiian artists. Find a couple of guys and search for their music in LW.

However, many overlook the fact that the users make it hard: LW has no control over what files one puts on the network so it has no control over how you name your files. You could find Vivaldi or Bethoven under Nu-metal or Pop... The only thing that you can do is renaming your own files and sharing them to the network.

I have found several songs that have "Hawaiian" in their information, but I'd like a search field into which I can enter "Hawaiian". If I enter it into Title or Artist I won't get much, and there's no "Hawaiian" (or Slack Key, for that matter) in the Genre list. Why not? Doesn't everyone like Hawaiian music? ;-)

We love it, but if that was indeed the case, then the devs would also have to accept to add all types of international music styles.
Quite a big list, I've been told...
