Password protection
 

This is very important. My younger brother keeps going on limewire and downloads porn and he won't stop. I've filtered out all that I can. Is there any way to password protect Limewire so that I'm the only one who can access it?

oh yeah, and i know he wouldnt figure out how to break that because he doesnt even know about the filters

As you daid about the filters you can do these things: Tools>Options>Filters>Keyword & tick Ignore Adult content. You can also add keywords such as .jpg, .wmv & any others you can think of such as other movie types. These can be added or removed anytime. But you would need to add them everytime. Don't forget to press the Apply button everytime you make such a change.

thanks for the advice. I never even thought of blocking .jpg, .wmv files and such. So I blocked all video file keywords and I already clicked ignore adult content but that doesn't even work all that well because adult oriented movies and such still come up. i tested it, trust me, ignore adult content doesn't fully work. I still think it would be nice if I could put a password on Limewire so that I am the only one who can access it. But i guess blocking keywords is the only thing that i can do for now.

Likewise I had a suspicion that ignore adult content might not work that well. But at least keywords does do the trick. I think myou can get 3rd party apps that can off the type of security you're refering to. Perhaps even make LW invisible to only you. But you'll need to search for such apps.

ok, i'll try to find some of those apps, any suggestions as to where to find some or what some of these are called?

I use mac so the answer is no. You could search for Ghost. There's also other apps that use keys/passwords to allow the user to open the app. Try sites like... & do a search... 1. this one and 2. also this one

If you use XP you can password protect your account and have Lime only visible for you.
