Does Limewire slow down your computer?

Has anyone else experienced Limewire slowing down your computer when you have dial up? Both when your downloading and not downloading. Do you notice your internet pages loading slower, as well as your other applications working slower?

Which Operating System (OS) are you using? (mac/win 98, win xp, etc.)

May I suggest some things: As a dial up user you certainly won't be operating as an ultrapeer (UP) so go to your Tools>Options>Speed & tick option for Disable Ultrapeer capabilities. Press Apply. Options>Uploads>Basic: Reduce your upld speed to below 40% for dial up. Options>Dwnloads: Tick option to Autoclear Completed downlds then tick Apply button.

Close any windows you're not using such as Monitor & Connections windows & even Library window if your not using it.

I don't recommend using the Resume or Find Sources functions on more than a few files otherwise it will use up a lot of LW's & your Systems's resources, and also result in your files queuing for much much longer. And can affect your LW connection quality.

Some tips: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.
