Playback is too fast - help!

I am using Wndws 2000 and when I try to playback any file, its always playing too fast. I have tried the limewire player, and also real player - same result. I have tried going to limewire option and messing with the speed & player settings. I have gone into the prefrences on the player all with NO luck. Please help, thank you...
