Cool Force a Match to Resume Incomplete files

How To Force a Match and Resume Incomplete files

1. Incomplete file size does not match Search Window

2. Rename Incomplete file to match Search results, if necessary

3. Tips and Tricks

As of LimeWire 1.6d, after program quit or disconnection, to resume a download one must get file name and size from the incomplete directory, manually re-search and attempt to resume a matching download.

1. Incomplete file size does not match

However, total file size, from Search Window does not match the same total file size in the Incomplete directory.

Since, the search window rounds sizes to KB (thousands), we need a way to convert the INCOMPLETE file sizes, in bytes, to the SEARCH WINDOW form, (Kilobytes).

I divided the same files' size between the Search Window and the Incomplete directory to get a 0.97656 difference.

Multiply Incomplete file size by 0.97656, then Divide by 1000, finally Round any decimal fractions, and Append (KB) to the end.

@round(INCOMPLETE SIZE x 0.97656) / 1000,0) x KB

With your incomplete file size now in Search Window form, you can re-run your file search.

2. Rename Incomplete file to match

If you can't match the exact same name, but believe you've found an identical alias, you can rename your Incomplete file to force a match, then resume download.

3. Tips and Tricks

Sometimes there are so many different names for the same file, all "waiting" with a busy connection, I have time to copy and rename several versions of the Incomplete file.

If and when a connection is resumed with a matching Incomplete file name, I delete any extra versions I may have in my Incomplete directory, and stop all other online activity, except for that one download.

Some LimeWire Options will further reduce cutt-offs while downloading.
1. Make sure "Upload Speed" and "Maximum Uploads" Options are less than half your total bandwith.
2. Set "Keep approximately X connections up." to 2 or less

LimeWire could use seperate upload options for idle times vs download times, but in the mean time, don't forget to set more generous Upload options when your idle, or else we all could be stuck in traffic, "waiting" for busy connections, and getting cut off.
