Hackment? I'm kinda new, and don't have a lot of experience with p2p, but I've noticed something odd about my Limewire (ver 4.2.4) Iff I'm online when I boot up Limewire, I get alot of out-going byte showing on my Windows Task Manager connection monitor, even though I have the app set so that I have to tell it to connect to the net, and it seems like it also starts d/loading any files that were still in that field when I shut the app down, even though they were all "paused" when I shut down. Is it at all possible that I (or the Gnutella Network) have been hacked? Like I said, I'm a newbie, so I don't know for certain, but something is a just a little suspicious here. Just in case I made a booboo setting up for my mailings, my email is [****]. I sure hope someone actually reads the posts here..... be very leery of those fake files and of course get a router and some good security software, also try to find ip sniffer, it will tell you all connected ips (to your computer) and most important, READ THE FORUMS |
relax--sounds normal. When LW is started, it tries to resume any incompletes by connecting to the hosts it last remembers. You only need to be connected in order to search and begin downloads. After that, transfers can be continued without being connected. Try it. start a download, then disconnect. The download should continue. |
