1. Remember that you are downlding from other people like yourself. So if they've converted the movie down in size, it will be about CD size (generally between 500 MB to 700 MB in size.) Sometimes they might be broken into parts. The best formats to aim for are AVI, MPEG/MPG. Don't downld from those below the suggested size otherwise their quality will be poor. And if they're below 100 MB then they're probably porn or spam. When downlding a very large file, try to choose one that has multiple sources. Choose those that have many sources listed in the Search Results under the # column.

2. A plug-in is like a miniature program that the main program can load to achieve something in particular. One of these types that's used for video apps is called a CODEC. CODEC = This & also this
If your video app doesn't have a codec plug-in to be able to translate a particular video format then it will come up with an error like you saw. Some good ones are here: http://www.divx-digest.com/software/nimo_pack.html

3. Some xtra players handy to have around are DivX player (google it to find it) & als VLC which is free & plays everything except the odd wmv file (it has in-built codecs): http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (choose the nearest mirror site.) For audio a back up player that also has inbuilt codecs & is free & plays all is QCD: http://www.quinnware.com/

Some other hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.
