disappearing files?

a couple of weeks ago i turned on my computer, clicked on my user account, clicked on shortcut to limewire icon like i usually do, limewire came up, went to library, and there was nothing there! it was like someone had gone into my computer and stole my entire library of files. so i asked my 14 yr old son what happened and he had no idea but investigated it and found that his user account also showed no library, but that my wife's user account still had it. we all three used to be able to play from the library but now only her's has it. WHY?! i mean thank god we still have a library, because it took a lot of work and time to put together a collection worthy of being proud of, but now we have to use her accont if we want this music while we work- i don't understand this change. please help. thank you!

Not being a windows expert (or any type of expert for that matter), but it sounds like you're all logging into the computer using the same user account. That's why LW's seeing you all as the one user & putting all the files in your wife's user account. Have you installed any new softw or done any OS updates recently that might have changed your login sequences?

When you are using LW see which preferences you're using. Go to Tools>Options>Saving & see where which user account it is.

Unless someone has mysteriously moved or deleted them, they will be there. Do a search using your operating system search engine for those formats: mp3, avi, jpeg
