Stumped & Frustrated..Advice needed!

Good evening and welcome to my most annoying week! Here goes - I've been using P2P for sometime...always been able to solve the on-going problems that arise evey now and then, however since using Limewire it seems that 'NO' media files (.avi - Divx Xvid compressed etc, .mpeg, .mpg) will play! Now when I say will not play I don't mean 'XX codec needed', the problem I think is stemming from the duration of the files. The duration of the files after downloading are '00:00:00'!! Ive checked these files with 'Gspot' which says they can be played. I'm completely up together with all codec's (Nimo, Xp codec pack, Morgan & ACE mega) and players (Playa, VideoLAN etc) but still no joy! The files seem to play for a split second then stop! 'Gspot' says file is ok but then says XXMB is extra garbage (the XXmb is always the full file size!!)

Can anyone shine any light on this ongoing problem?

Thanks for your help

G

Is it only the files you've been downlding the past week that have this problem? What about other files you've already downlded prior to this? Try those ones again.

Same old

All old files play normal. Only files downloaded via Limewire. All other files (zip, rar, exe etc) are fine when downloaded!

After re-reading your original post it sounds as though you're new to using LW.

Make a note of the site you download from. And try to preview the file as it's downlding. It will of course need some % downlded before you can preview. If you can't play it, then stop downlding it & choose another source. You might even want to block that original address (right-click on file in window to block it. Or go to Tools>Options>Filters>Hosts & add that address.) You can add/remove these if desired. Just remember to press the Apply button.

Were you trying to play the movie files by launching thru LW or outside of LW?

Yes certainly are new to Limewire, I am not launching via LW, just either opening from file or opening from a player. Would this make a difference, if so that would be a little crazy! Also no files will convert so to burn to cd/dvd.

Just a quick update...have just tried to launch thru LW but same old same old!

Forgot to thank you so far with regards to blocking IP's...thank you

Still baffled about this 'duration' thing tho! When I tried to remove the 'garbage' on one of the files using Gspot it actually made the file 268kb from 668mb!! (alot of garbage in the file!) but still it recognised the file as an .avi file.
