"***" : - Corrupt video files & Blocking multiple sources issue

hi,

many files show pretty authentic names/sizes/... and are 'offered' by numerous hosts (why cant I block just the whole bunch of host displayed in search results?).
So, no way for me to determine which is good and which isnt. Even bizzi fails (one episode I downloaded was perfectly corrupt but www.bizzi ... told me that this file got a 1.4 rating and is supposed to be good!?
Have anyone made the same eyperience?

thanx
markus

p.s.: dont waste your time on explaining to me how to make non-corrupted files play - Iknowhow2dothis -; the files I'm talking about are corrupt!

The problem with blocking some of these hosts is that they may have dynamic ip's. Meaning on another day they will probably have a different ip. And some other unlucky person may have adopted the previous ip. Just a thought!

Doesn't Right-clicking the search result & choosing block then block them all? Actually I just tried it out & it does only seem to block the 1st in line!

hi,

thats exactly what happens when I right-click and block: just the first ip gets blocked.
the most irritating to see is the speed which with fakers adopt to very specific file names (i.e. xy.hdtv-lol.[BT].avi).

hdtv.avi is there such a thing? I mean hd refers to high resolution. Which should be over 1000 pixels each way (I can't remember off hand. There's more than one hd format anyway; several)

I could only suggest to ignore those particular ones. Unless other members have any suggestions.

*** was a great series by the way! I most enjoyed it! :)

Certainly very popular. I did a search for it & came up with lots of results.

When you say the results have names like: xy.hdtv-lol.[BT].avi), are you able to see that in the search results or only after you've finished downlding it? I can't see any such files in my search results. The show seems to be popular in Japan also.

Which version of LW are you using out of curiousity?

Greetings photopilote,

I just played around with this. Only program that would play it was MC. I tried RM,WMP,Nero Showtime,VLC.

The file type I d/led was xy.xyz.hdtv-lol[BT].avi. Well I figured out why only MC would play it. Whoever is sharing it knowingly or unknowling encrypted it. I did the bizi also and got the same rating results on this file. It wasn't corrupt just encrypted.

Kinda stupid if you ask me. **edit** was refering to being encrypted **edit**

@ Lord of the Rings,

what counts most in the 'hdtv-lol' is probably the 'lol' ... (to get serious again: I think it just indicates the broadcast-format, the encoded file size is somewhat about 520x...)
Actually theres a guy out there who likes to add 'lol' to his filenames. This guy does very good encodings and I never had problems with those files. And yes the filename remains the same: from searching to completing download.

I'm using 4.4 now, but as I didnt update (from 4.2.6) but yesterday I can confirm that nothing changed when it comes to those fake files

Jop, *** is great!! Just finished the third day and just cant stop ... .

@ fabion

thanx a lot, I'll check this out.

p.s.: did I say dont explain me how to make an avi-file play?!? shame on me ....

@ fabion,

just tried the mc but couldnt get the file played. Gspot is telling me mpeg1-layer3 32 kbps 44100 Hz, size 343mb audio only file. Actually its an japanese TV-Rip, so maybe its compressed in a unusual way?
Which version of MC did you use?

thanx

MC version 2002 sp2. And ouch you got me there. I forgot about 2 weeks ago I added some features when I got a japanese keyboard for this comp., and hooked it up. It worked good for the most part with LimeWire, no problems other than the ones I generated. But I was consistently having problems with M$ products and displaying proper characters. I d/led numerous items from the M$ website to correct this. I don't recall everything right now, but I'm wondering now if I didn't install some special codecs at the same time.

I got audio and video on the program I d/led yesterday. I only received one msg. when I tried to play it. "This file has been encryted would you like to decrypt ". Yes No Cancel

I will see if I still have the e-mail from M$ tech support about this. It had the links to the items I d/led. I'll pm it to you when I find it.
