Default WINDOWS 98--CANNOT FRIGGIN STARTUP, thanky

Hi, everyone. I just downloaded Limewire today, but it refuses to start up properly. I've suffered through lost internet connections, and the computer malfunctions when it attempts to start. Could this be affected by any Java problems, or the fact that my computer carries only 52 ram memory instead of the 64 requested?

Your RAM appears to be the problem. 256 MBs RAM is just about the very minimum it takes to run LimeWire with other programs running also.

I know it's not the answer you were hoping for.

Unhappy

I am confused. Why didn't it claim that on the website? It told me the miniumum amount was 64.

In order to be able to use LW properly, you have to have a computer capable of handling it. If it doesn't have enough RAM or hard drive space, then you're out of luck, because it's not going to work the way it should. Before you consider d/ling LW, look at your computer's specifications and compare those with the specifications listed in the LW d/l site. If your computer's specifications DO NOT MATCH those listed on the LW d/l site, then imo, it'd be wise not to d/l LW. If, however, you DO have a computer capable of handling LW, then there shouldn't be any problem d/ling it.
