November SPIKE

The Rolling Host Count Graph on www.limewire.com shows a huge spike in November 2004.. and maintaining its self until the present.

Does anyone know what caused this November Spike in Gnutella users? Is it just HOW LimeWire was collecting sources to use as data for the graph, or was it some news on CNN or elsewhere about Gnutella that made everyone start using it?

Adjustments to the old TCP crawler and use of a new UDP crawler.

The crawler only counts LW right, it way undercount the other vendors because they don't have good crawler support.

Thanks

Thanks.

And is it the SAME reason why this month, the count shows the highest ever? Because they are continually improving the crawler?

No. Between high jumbs because of improved crawler, you see the progression of the number of hosts on Gnutella. It is real growth.

(Gnutella has been growing quickly since summer 2003)

Ciao
