difference between "shared," "my music," and "save" folders?

I'm new to this program (and to file sharing) & I'm confused. What are the differences between these 3 folders and why do they not contain all of the same the music files?

the shared folder is mainly for people who are searching for the files that they need and if you happen to have them - They will download it off of you and that makes your computer "upload" the files to the user's computer. So it's like Kazaa if you have ever used that one before. You give people what they want and you get what you want (sometimes require patience when you want the file so badly). Your "my music" folder is what it is on the given name folder- Your music/files. I believe "save" folder is the files that aren't complete and it's saving the current progress on it or maybe not because I set my limewire differently. I made all my downloads go to my "downloads folder (I created this folder myself obviously). It's also a shared folder. Your last question: "Why do they not contain all of the same the music files?" - I have no idea and I'm positivie that people can help you out with the rest of the information that they can give you. If software developers have the time to post on the forums as much, they'd give you the most direct answer to all of your questions. Have fun with Limewire!

Keep in mind this is a p2p (peer to peer) application; ie: it's you sharing with others like me & your neighbours & people overseas & all over the world. So people will have their own copies of music that they've downloaded from others or that they've ripped from a CD at their own quality settings.

By having peoplle uploading from you it actually helps you to get better search & download results b/c you will connect with people they are connected with.

May I suggest you download the Limewire (LW) manual & you will need Acrobat Reader to read it after unzipping it: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/userguide.shtml
It's only a simple guide, but if you look around the forums you can also pick up more hints on how to get the most out of LW. ;) :)

By the way, if you'd like an audio player that arranges all your music into artist & albums folders then download iTunes: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ & you can get tricks on how to use it here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=32626
Then you can make your iTunes music library a share folder also. LW's menu Tools>Options>Sharing & add & apply buttons.
