bought lifetime membership.....

I bought the lifetime membership about 3-4 weeks ago.
Since them my computer died and I have replaced it with a new one.
How do I get Limewire on the new computer without paying again?

LW Basic is free! (LW Pro costs $18.88) I think you were scammed! There is no lifetime membership! See: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...5&pagenumber=1 (which site was it you bought membership from?)

Get the free version LW from the official LW site here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

How do I install Limewire again without being charged the lifetime fee?

Get your money back if you can. ;)

I found the LW link on Kim Kamando daily email. She supported or may the correct word is recommended it. I paid 34.95...unlimited/lifetime is what it said at the time of purchase.

I found a way to get the download. I emailed a copy of my receipt to a friend to print for me. I knew my computer was on its last leg.

With the receipt, I could log in and download again.

Thanks for your response

But that's not LW Pro you have! That's either the free version or a variation of LW's version built by someone else copying LW.

There is no unlimited or lifetime membership for the genuine LW pro. I think you might have paid $34.90 for the free version. Go to LW's menu Help>About Limewire... if it doesn't say LW Pro then you only have a free version or a scam version. See this link for the window you should see when you select About LW.. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...019#post123019

http://www.allcoolmusic.com/

this is the site where I paid 34.95 for an unlimited/ lifetime membership for LimeWire.

I don't understand where or whom I address this issue to.

Scammed

Nice flashy site, but a scam site nevertheless.

Explain to your credit card company or bank that you were taken in by a web-site specifically set up to part people from their money, perhaps you may be able to get a refund that way.

As LOTR says, there is no lifetime membership for LW because it is free, the LW Pro version, which I use, costs $18.88, which allows six months worth of upgrades.

Any other site promising something else is lying.

However, if you can't get your money back then remember all that glitters (or looks flashy) is probably fake, in other words put it down to one of life's unpleasant experiences.

Really appreciated the heads up that you all gave on the scam sites. I'm new at this and had no idea.

Normally I'd agree, but in this case, the "all that glitters" would seem to be LimeWire which is free - while I was trying to be "responsible" (laugh) by paying for my service.

I'm embarrassed, but again thanks for the help.

Blessings to all

Re: Re: Scammed

I just paid $25 for a 2 year membership to www.mymusicinc.com, thinking it was a p2p service. Turns out I just bought a service warranty of sorts that lasts for 2 years. I found the following on the FAQ's of that site:

QUESTION: The software you offer for downloading music is free...what did I just pay for?

EXPLANATION: True, the software is free, however in addition to providing you with all the software and guidance you need to start downloading your favorite music, we also offer unlimited, friendly, 7x24 technical support. Additionally, the payment helps to keep this website running and allows us to continue to offer this service to music fans all over the world.

They say I can get refunded in the first 30 days. Hope this is helpful.

Dave
