Nole, I hope this link helps ... I'm sure it is mentioned more than once in this extraordinary thread:)

nole October 19th, 2005 04:12 PM

Thanks for the reply. I did that and still couldn't transfer the downloads to media player to burn the cd.

Any other suggestions? I'm not a computer literate but am trying!

Only A Hobo October 19th, 2005 04:26 PM

I assume your media player has a folder for tunes to be kept in. What you must do, is either make that folder your download folder, or copy files from your download folder into the media player folder.

You can select your download folder in options or preferences>saving and you can chose the folder. That would normally be your sharing folder also, but your sharing folder(s) can similarly be changed in options.

After making changes, click apply and OK.

I hope this helps

Ugh.
Forgive me.
I was young and stupid.:D

Some (not so) funny facts about this thread:
-The same question about burning CDs has been asked 34 times in this thread alone
-The same question has been answered 21 times in this thread alone

I'm surprised that people kept coming back to this post trying to help when the solution has already been posted almost 10 times...

If they refuse to do the basics then we shall continue to make a fool of us & them. lol :D Plus + this thread just got stuck ... glued ... eek! Wash your hands please before dinner! Please! Burning Cd

HOW DO I BURN A CD USING LIMEWIRE?

ukbobboy01 January 10th, 2006 11:03 AM

You can't, Limewire does not have any CD burning software in it.

You will have to use something else like NERO or Roxio.

LovinGraphics January 23rd, 2006 08:47 PM

Ok, that was a good helpful link on how to use nero...
I am pretty much know what I am doing, but I am UNABLE to burn the music downloaded from LW. Apparently I do not have the licences that are supposed to come with the songs...

I am a pro user and paid, so all music I download should come with licences to burn and copy..right?

How do i get LW to take notice that I am a pro paid user, and that it is ok for me to make cd's with what I download from here?

I can download 50 songs...and maybe 1 or 2 I will be able to actually burn and take with me in the car...the other 48 I have to delete and try again...

any suggestions??

sunnydayblueocean January 23rd, 2006 09:42 PM

I know lots of people have already asked how to burn a cd.
I know this is going to sound like i don't know anything about a computer so please overlook that. I have a cd writer/dvd rom combo. My question is with that can i burn only cd's or can i burn dvd-r's too? is there some thing i am doing wrong or do i simply need different stuff for what i am tring to do which is burn movies to a dvd-r? Also what do i need to convert avi. file to something i can burn? please help!

murasame January 23rd, 2006 10:07 PM

Hrmm...
It depends on how old it is: the older CD burners could only read DVDs.
You need to check out over the net what it's capabilities are (go to the official site for example)

sunnydayblueocean January 23rd, 2006 10:20 PM

i love the help but i am a tad bit computer challenged. it is not that i don't try or that i am not capable of figuring it out. My computer is a couple of months old from wal-mart it is a compaq presario with windows 2000xp i think i wrote that info right. i so did not understand the whole info bit i am suppose to look up on the internet though. in all honesty i believe i don't not have the right program or media player to burn dvd-r could be wrong though. when i try to burn to dvd-r it says i have no disc in. All my media players(windvd, realplayer, window media player) i have when i go to burn it says cd burner. does that mean it will not burn to a dvd-r, the media player itself or is it just that my computer isn't capable of burning to dvd-r with my current hardware?

Lord of the Rings January 23rd, 2006 10:51 PM

If you have the latest software, then they will normally show whether your burner can burn cd's/dvd's, etc.

Certainly the earlier combo's were just cd burner & dvd player only. Some of the later ones can burn both. But if you bought yours cheaply, then probable chance is you only got a cd burner & dvd reader as Murasame suggested. Just like my partner's computer.

sunnydayblueocean January 23rd, 2006 10:55 PM

so if the media player says cd burner that means it is a cd burner only?? is that what ur saying? ya i know i should have gotten it by now but u never can be to sure of something u don't fully understand.

sunnydayblueocean January 23rd, 2006 10:58 PM

that was very clear thankz and disregard my last post. suggestions on how to fix the problem? do i need to buy new hardware and where is the best to buy, i need something that will work but not cost a fortune.

Lord of the Rings January 23rd, 2006 11:44 PM

AFAIK All dvd burners nowadays will read & burn cd's also. I haven't heard of anything different. But research what you're after. I'd recommend something that can burn & read both DVD+/- R/RW media.
For some basics on dvd's see http://www.answers.com/topic/dvd
eg: You can go to a site like cdfreaks.com to find particular models & what tests have been done to check their reliability & their effectiveness with particular brands & particular types of dvd media. eg: my present burner which I bought quite a while ago http://www.cdfreaks.com/article/204

If you find out about a particular burner, always research it on the net before you buy it. Find out what it can or can't do. Find out about user feedback both positive & negative feedback. Google can be a great help there.

* But also check your dvd player. When I bought my player, I took in different brands of dvd-/+ r/rw media to make sure it would play back those burnt by my player in various formats suggested including vcd/svcd & more such as divx, mp3, m4a, wmv, etc. My player can also playback dvd DL disks (8.5 GB disks.)

A Little Help For Those Of You Confused

Here's a fun fact! can't find the files you downloaded? well here let me help First Start Up Limewire, then go to tools, then click on options, Then go to saving, then click browse, there will be a little folder with an up arrow on it click on it until it is unselectable, then click select, AND BADA BING!!! all downloaded files will be sent to the desktop!

Lord of the Rings February 2nd, 2006 02:27 PM

If you see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=52512 as pointed out, the desktop is not a wise place to have as a downld location. If you should accidentally downld a virus, then your entire desktop could become corrupted, not to mention lack of security. By default your downld folder is shared. So that would mean your entire desktop & all folders within would be accessible to anyone.

If you want easy access to your downlds, I can think of 2 options; 1. create a shortcut & place it on your desktop. 2. Go to your LW Library window, select Saved Files folder & press the Explore button. Sample image here: Using Library Explore button to access downld folder (click on link)

KrazeeLikeBones February 2nd, 2006 05:19 PM

...

Look that's the reason why you should, first of all ALL FILES will be at your desktop, second of all you should have your antivirus be on the look out on your desktop so you have less chance of that virus taking charge, and third of all i know what i am doing please don't think i am just a basic computer noob, i've learned things you would never understand, and just to let you know LimeWire basic is illegal in the government standards as well as bearshare and all the other filesharing programs so you just started forums of illegal stuff, because i've seen people get LimeWire Pro off of LimeWire basic, which disgusts me because they are pirating software they should have not messed with! so if you really think i don't know what i'm doing ask the 100 people who asked for my help on their computers ok? And learn how to spell download!

sunnydayblueocean February 4th, 2006 10:03 PM

why so hostile? speaking of viruses, i think i just had one. I downloaded some things that didn't exactly say what they were just 2006, yeh i can be stupid sometimes. ne how, i previewed some and delete some. The next day i try to get on the internet thur internet explorer and it keeps redirecting the address to this jiberish nonsense, it basically looked like the alphabet gone wrong. i tried everything i know to fix it and believe me that isn't alot cause i don't know much about computers. i have norton anti virus and thought i was safe but it could not find anything wrong. Meanwhile my computer is going slower and slower and starting to freeze up at the simplest of things pretty soon certain things will not even run. I had to start over, thank god for backups! while i was tring to fix things myself i came across something i'm not sure about. Does anyone know what P2P networking is and does it have anything to do with limewire? change subject, so putting downloaded material in a folder on desktop allows everyone to view everything? Is there anyway to only share what is in the limewire library while still have some downloaded material on the desktop in a folder? and how can keeping material in the library help on virus protection ? how dumb is it to download things that can not be verfied by bitsy. well i guess i've sounded as dumb as i feel like sounding for today. sorry about all the questions but i dont completely understand how a computer works and have decided after recent fustrations that advice on safer downloading and keeping is completely necessary. As always any advice however hostile or nice is greatly appreciated.

MewtwoM March 13th, 2006 12:33 PM

I have no problem burning CDs from Limewire. I usually put a blank CD-R into my CD-RW drive and select the songs I want to burn to CD. I burned a CD that was over an hour long, and it contains songs which I downloaded from Limewire. I just hope what I'm doing isn't considered illegal, that's all. :(

ann14517 April 22nd, 2006 11:00 AM

i'm new here and would like to share some dvd movies i have but don't know how too keep them on my puter can someone help.

Lord of the Rings April 22nd, 2006 11:50 AM

See How to Share Folders (click on link)
In order to extract ones you have to your computer, see these links: 1. http://www.dvd-guides.com/ & also
2. (a) http://www.videohelp.com/ or/& also (b) http://www.videohelp.com/tools
After extracting to your computer you'll then need to convert the VOB files to avi/mpeg 4/divX/mpeg 2.
Most people shrink them down to 700-800 MB or else split them into 2-3 parts of such size to maintain as much quality as possible.

Guana77664 April 22nd, 2006 12:12 PM

If you have the software capable of producing DVD movies on your computer, then it shouldn't be too difficult to share them. My only problem is that I don't have a DVD-RW or the software that goes with it. I only have a CD-RW.

onra April 23rd, 2006 06:54 AM

i am a total novice.--but everything i download when using limewire,i clear the inactive which transfers it into my library.I then go to my library and find it--eg audio- video-etc.When i find the file i want, then i click on that file, and drag it onto my desktop-by moving limewires page accross a little to see what i am doing.Once on my desktop,i then scan it for virus, then iright click and send to-d drive.the wizard does the rest for me.I am sure its easier than that -but like i said--im a novice,-try it.best of luck, cause im not having much myself at the moment.regards-onra

hsmith9267 July 14th, 2006 11:36 PM

everyone has a windows media player use that - its easiest, just go to the library tab and choose add to library by searching computer - all the files from your LW shared folder will go right in

red titles

Hi Guys,

I'm new and I have a simple question that probably everyone can answer. I see some of the titles in my library are red. Does this mean that I've downloaded illegally or a song that's copyrighted?
When I first got Limewire, I set my downloads to all and I can download and listen to all the songs on my PC but I tried to burn a CD and it errors out (several tries). I don't want to steal songs and if this is my problem, maybe someone can tell me how to change my settings rather than me searching through Help, etc.

Bob

birdy August 24th, 2006 08:34 PM

Titles in red aren't being shared. Try refreshing the library page, or right click on a file > share file. Restarting LW should also fix things.

What program are you using for burning & what does the error message say??

Hay_Hunter September 13th, 2006 06:22 PM

If you dont know how/ dont want to burn on limewire just transfer your files into another folder and use it on a different program you're more familiar with, maybe itunes or mediaplayer? Just go to the the library tab and in the bottom left click the explore button. Then just click and drag your files to wherever you wish.

Instructions for compiling music cd's or whatever burn project you have in mind can be found at this place http://www.afterdawn.com/

EDIT: forgot to mention clik the forum tab you can read the appropriate walkthru without having to login unless you have questions

Guana77664 October 11th, 2006 09:38 AM

It could be possible to burn CDs using WMP 10 or maybe iTunes. I personally use WMP 10 to burn my CDs, since it's pretty reliable and using error correction, I can eliminate most (if not all) of the glitches in the songs I burn.

Depending on your CD burn program, the task may be simple or difficult. For those of you who use WMP 10 (or some other version of Windows Media Player), there should be an icon somewhere on the computer (be it the taskbar, the desktop, or even in your Start menu's list of programs). Click the icon and it'll open up your WMP. From there (if your LW songs are in the WMP library-you may have to get your WMP to search for the songs and add them to the library), right-click the songs you want to burn to CD, insert a blank CD-R (or CD-RW), left-click burn CD, and you've got your very own music CD.

lime wire cd burning

:bangh:
i've tried what all of you have instructed for burning a cd with limewire with nero 7.0 pro but it keeps telling me that the file can be added if a dedicated plug-in is installed when i try to transferr the file to burn, what plug-in are they talking about

Guana77664 November 12th, 2006 11:45 PM

It depends on what you're referring to. Since your post is pretty vague, I have no clue what it is you're referring to, dungnmatr.

First you need Windows Media Player. (PC)

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=65968

[I don't know about Mac...]
Then, you make a playlist... then just burn the playlist.
