run as when i click on my shortcut to limewire it does not start but if i right click and select run as then choose admin and type my password it starts just fine. Is there any way to fix this? the name i sign in as is a admin so i dont know why i have to select run as admin to get it to start. any help would be great. Jorge |
I've never heard of this problem before. It looks like you don't have permission to run LW. Go to Control Panel>User Accounts to see if you are a computer administrator or have a limited account. If you have permission to do so, try to change it by clicking on your account and then clicking "change account type". I am logged in as a computer administrator (not to be confused with the Administrator account) and have no problems running LimeWire. Good luck. deepblue |
choose run as to make limewire work When i click on the shortcut or from the start menu limewire will not run, but if i right click and choose run as admin and enter the password it starts just fine. never had this problem until i had to reinstall windows, i am a system admin when i click the shortcut, dont know why i have to enter the password to make it work. any help would be great thanks jorge |
Hmmm sounds like LW was installed as an admin, but wasn't given access to be shared. You should only have one instance of LW running also. Might have more than one version installed. Use your windows explorer to search your HD for LW and see how many versions you have and there locations. |
You don't need to double post. Your question will be answered. |
admin i did install it as admin, i own the computer and set it up same as i did the first time i used it, just not right this time. The only time more than one LW is running is if i click on the shortcut, if i just select run as it runs first time everytime and only one starts. i can download and upload fine, everything works. The only way to login as the main admin is to start in safe mode. can i change that, there was no option to make it part of the normal screen. |
If you reboot, you have the option of logging out instead of restarting or shutting down. So log out & then log back in as admin. If you are the admin you can add your other username as admin thru the control panels. Doh double-posted! |
sorry for the double post, kinda new to this stuff. |
Question, if after you open LW, go to Tools>Options>Saving & see who's shared folder you are in. Is it under the name you log in under? (Or you could search your computer to find this out anyway.) Sounds like something amiss with the admin settings. Go to control panel folder>Admin Tools>Computer Management>System Tools>Local Users & Groups>Users & check the admin users & rights. I'm not a win user per se so the others will have a better idea here. |
