My limewire is going haywire!

I have liked my limewire up to this point.. I was running limewire 4.8.1 and the latest java.. While trying to downloading a RAR file called "WindowsXP Home Update". I went to restart my limewire because it was lagging and while doing so.. My limewire would not start again. It came up with a java error. I sent to bugs@limewire.com... In the meantime while i am waiting for a response i was wondering if you have any solutions.. It will not let me uninstall cause it says not all the files are there, so i cant just uninstall and reinstall.. I am running a dell 60gig HD, with 768 ram, 2.3ghrtz, with windows XP home.. also i have dsl (actiontec 54mbps) PLEASE help me! thanks..

To uninstall LW go to Start menu>Programs>LW & choose uninstall. You can't uninstall it using the Add/Remove prog control panel. You can however uninstall Java using the control panel. Do that, then re-install Java. Then reboot the computer & then delete the LW preferences folder before attempting to open LW; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

I have went to my computer and went to the uninstall file. Which and it was there but when i did it. It says that file does not exsist anymore which is a bit confusing if i may say.. i clicked on start\all programs\ and there was no LW file there.. umm HELP! lol..

If it won't uninstall .. then follow my directions & delete the prefs folder. I wonder if it's saying that b/c it detects another version in the background & b/c they can't both be removed the same way it gives that error ... else the other or this LW version is still active. Hold down Control-Alt-Delete keys & process manager & see if there's any other LW listed. If there is then my suspicions might be true. ALso you'd need to remove the LW icon from the program tray before you could delete it anyway. A reboot then uninstall LW. Then search your computer to see if other versions exist that are actually a program.

I did the search for the .limewire and deleted it. ok and now we found more limewire versions through search results. But.... none through the control panel, add\remove technique... there was none there.. which kinda confuses me.. what should my next step be? remove all limewire files there are and redownload the latest version? and see if that works?
