im looking for a program to save cds and songs (non mp3) to my computer but i have no idea what they are called anyhelp would be appreciated

It's called Limewire. lol hahaha just joking. How about iTunes? It can play CD's, extract songs to your computer, create mp3 & m4a files, burn CD's & audio DVD's & mp3 disks. It also arranges all your music into artist>album so it's easy to locate & if you share iTunes' Music Library it will display the artist>album for easy access. iTunes also uses smart playlists which can filter new music into specific playlists such as by artist or period (eg: 1980's music, etc. iTunes music shared in LW
