Has any limewire developers considered...

Has anyone considered porting limewire to I2P yet?

Since Tor doesn't want or allow filesharing over it, i2p is the next option. It is even a much better option for filesharing.

There have already been discussions of porting emule, shareaza and some other clients.

Bittorrent has already been ported to i2p. Soon i2p's network is going to become able to handle thousands of node, at least according to it's development schedule.

Anyways the bittorrent port has already proven fast enough filesharing over i2p can be done.

Hmm..

Limewire is gnutella-only.

Its better to provide one high-quality solution for one network than 10 so-and-so implementations.
Limewire is really the best gnutella client, I've tried many others but they either have bad implemented multile-host downloads (-> corrupt files) and no advanced features at all...

Seems someone is already working on porting phex. :)

Seems like filesharing over i2p is going to be huge.

So even if limewire doesn't get ported, another client might be.

It would be very nice to have at least one gnutella client ported to i2p.

Sorry but I doubt Limewire would move away from the Gnutella network, if they used anything else, the RIAA/MPAA would surely close them down in a heartbeat. If a P2P doesnt use gnutella, the most widely used, they it will be too limited. and, I dont think LW would want to limit file sharing, they wouldnt be able to make money off their Pro version if they did that.
